The old international airport in Bangkok stopped its service in the
year 2006. And during that time, Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is the city’s new
international airport, has been officially opened to cater international flights. Since then, Thai Airways,
Bangkok Airways, and the other carriers have been operating their domestic and international flights in
Suvarnabhumi Airport. In addition, Suvarnabhumi Airport acts as the regional gateway of different foreign carriers. Most international flights across Southeast Asia also use this airport as a connecting terminal.
Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi Airport) is one of the busiest international airports on earth. With 76 flights per hour, 45 million passengers and 3 million tons of cargo annually; no doubt that it is indeed busy. Suvarnabhumi Airport even handled more than 50 million
passengers in 2012. This number is way beyond the estimated number of
experts.
Suvarnabhumi
International Airport in Bangkok is also considered as a really amazing airport. This is because of the airport’s special design. There exists a basement floor for the Airport Rail Link and seven other floors
compose the airport. The first floor is designed for the bus and also taxi services. The counters for accommodation and also baggage claim,
plus the arrival of
international and domestic flight sections are on the second floor. Food stores and also restaurants are on the third floor. All departures are handled at the airline check-in counters found on the fourth floor. Ticketing offices and customs services are also seen on this
level. Thai Airways and
Star Alliance Offices are located on the fifth floor of the main terminal. On the sixth floor is the One Stop Service Center of Suvarnabhumi
Airport. The passengers’ complaints desk along with other companies working in the airport are found on sixth floor as well. Lastly, the place
serving as the observation deck of the airport is the seventh floor.
The Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi Airport) is located in the Bang Phli
District of the Samut Prakan Province in Bangkok, Thailand. To get to this airport, individuals need to use a train that connects the airport terminal to downtown Bangkok and travel 16 miles heading east. You can also ride bus, taxi, van, or any other transport options to reach Bangkok
